In compliance with federal law, the ³¬¼¶µõÖÓÄÌ is required to annually send public notice to parents and guardians regarding several topics.
Under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), parents or eligible students (at least 18 years of age or who are attending an institution of post-secondary education) must be notified of the district’s definition of directory information, the parent or eligible student's right to opt-out of the release of student directory information, and the time period to opt-out in writing. This notice is for families of students in grades K-12.
In addition, the district is required (under federal law) to comply with requests from military recruiters and institutions of higher education for access to the name, address, and telephone listing of each secondary school student, except for any student whose parent (or the student, if he or she is at least 18 years of age) has submitted a written request to opt out of this disclosure. This notice is for families of students in grades 9-12.
If parents or eligible students decide to opt out, please return the form(s) to your child’s building.
If you are unable to download or print either form, please contact your child’s school for paper copies.
